You work as a counselor at a community mental agency and the agency obtained a contract to provide group counseling for an inpatient treatment center for addiction. The center treats adolescents, adults, and elders from your community. Your supervisor has assigned you to organize and facilitate a group. You are given the opportunity to decide the group membership, the structure, and the treatment orientation of the group. What steps would you take to prepare for your role as facilitator? How would you decide upon group membership? What would be the structure of the group?  What treatment orientation would you use? What factors would you consider in assuring the safety of the group, the confidentiality of the group, and the participation of all members of the group?
